Monday- New Tool Review

This is Nanci, and I get to write up today's new tool review. Being married for more than 30 years to a journeyman carpenter as well as working as a professional baker and fencing coach has taught me the importance of the right tool for the right job. When my husband and I were first married, we'd spend our Friday "date nights" wandering through Home Depot while he longingly gazed at the vast array of tools displayed in all their glory. It was from him I learned that it is important to not skimp on quality. With this being said, OTS is going to start sharing some of our favorite tools we like to use for crafting, designing, quilting and sewing.
One of the newest craft helpers we've been enjoying here at On The Stitch is the Silhouette Cameo. Jeanette, with a little of Nanci's help, gets to teach classes using this very useful and quite fun tool. We aren't representatives or anything, but we just thought we'd share how much we have come to like our Cameo.
You can find a gazillion ideas for how to use the Cameo on the Silhouette website as well as the blog, not to mention all the great pins on Pinterest and videos on YouTube. We thought we'd share a few of the projects we've been making with this really enjoyable tool.

Sew Many Quilts & Sew Much Time

The saying, "time flies" is so often overused, however, this is the case for all of us at On The Stitch. Over the last year, Jeanette has quilted over 200 quilts, taught 400 hours of classes, took care of her ailing father who passed away in July, became a great-grandma twice over (in less than 48 hours), traveled with husband Tom to see kids, grandkids and the aforementioned great-grandbabies, not to mention keeping up with all her other projects. Needless to say, time has felt like it has flown by the last 12 months.
There are new projects on the horizon, a number of quilts waiting to go on the machine, and more traveling to come. With weddings, graduations and a family reunion on the calendar, Jeanette is going to be utilizing her time management as well as she utilizes her quilting and sewing machines.
It's been a time over the last month or so to also focus on organizing the studio. Inventory sheets, notebooks, and shelves with more cubbies have all been helping to get On The Stitch even more manageable.
It's always so great to have others helping to make a business work. Here are a few folks that make OTS run smoothly:
Husband Tom is the ultimate handyman around the studio. He's been doing a great job
remodeling the space and completing all the "honey-do" items on the list.
Granddaughter Mary took a few days during her Christmas break to put Jeanette's store room in order and to classify the plethora of fabric and supplies. She enjoyed putting all the same colors together in baskets and making things easier to find and use. What a great help she was with this.
Daughter Nanci is on board helping with all sorts of OTS things from computer work to social media to sewing and quilting. She is enjoying learning more about the HandiQuilter and has completed a few quilts of her own over the last year.
Since On The Stitch is all about creating, here are a few photos of projects from the last few months.
